Write Your Novel
I’ve been giving a lot of thought to life and its meaning recently. Specifically the phases we go through and how each stage presents us with different challenges – and gifts.
For example, if you’re reading this then you’ve gone through quite a few stages yourself.
You’ve experienced life as an infant, a toddler, a child, a pre-teen, a teenager, a young adult, and probably life as a 20-something.
Most of you will have also experienced life as a 30 and 40-something year old as well.
You know what it’s like to be a student and perhaps a parent. Perhaps you know what it’s like to be unemployed or over-worked. Perhaps you know the pain of losing a loved one.
We all have stages that we go through. I like to call these stages “chapters.”
I’m certainly not the first person to come up with that analogy, but it’s always stuck with me as a great way to segment periods of time.
Each chapter can have its up’s and down’s. Its own heart-felt and heart-breaking moments.
One of the joys of my job is that I get to meet new people and talk with them about their chapters so far. Of course, we focus in on the health, nutrition, and fitness piece of it but over time I get to know my clients closely and their full story lines.
One of the powerful transformations I see in my clients is a sense of authorship. Life happens – this is true, but we also get a lot more say in how our book goes than we realize.
For example, smoking, drinking heavily, eating greasy foods and the like cause our book to be a short story whereas those that take care of themselves generally get to write a novel.
We get a say in what we’re able to do and the memories we’re able to make. We are the author of our lives.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve talked with clients that can now run a 5k or Tough Mudder with their co-workers or can now play Marco Polo with their kids in a pool because they feel confident enough to actually wear a bathing suit.
This is the plot line. This is what makes life fun and interesting.
If we haven’t had the chance to meet yet, then let’s get something scheduled. You can click here to book a private consultation with me [email protected]. There’s no hard sell and no pressure to join anything. We just spend some time together chatting about your goals – what is it that you really want from life?
The ability to play tag with your kids and not be out of breathe? To be able to fit into your favorite pair of jeans from 5 years ago? Maybe to wow your high school friends at your upcoming reunion? Or maybe just to prove to yourself that you are amazing and capable?
I’ll share what we do here, answer all of your questions, and show you around. If you like what you see and hear then we can talk about the services I provide. If not, that’s ok too. Like I said, it’s just a conversation and I’m looking forward to it.
